Derren Brown fans to attend Lucky Dog picnic
Published on 17/07/2012

Residents in Todmorden will have their picnic hampers at the ready this weekend as they prepare for the town's inaugural Lucky Dog picnic.

The Halifax Courier reports how the mayor Councillor Abid Hussain will be on hand at Centre Vale Park to greet visitors.

Since the park's Lucky Dog statue featured on Derren Brown's award-winning TV programme, hoards of people have been travelling to have their picture taken with the sculpture.

Jacqui Matthews, from Todmorden Information Centre, said: "Some of Derren Brown's most loyal followers are coming this weekend to have a picnic with the dog.

"We are still getting a lot of enquiries ... even if it's pouring with rain."

The picnic will take place at 13:00 BST on Saturday (July 21st) and may become an annual event if it proves successful.

Brown is known as a performer who combines magic, psychology, suggestion and misdirection as part of his career as a "psychological illusionist".
