He’s likely to have been the family’s personal chauffeur at some point, so why not thank dad for all those trips out with a special Father’s Day trip? We’ve chosen our favourite locations to take dad this summer, which have a connection with our range of food and drink hampers and gifts – so you can get inspired for a day trip and find your way to the perfect gift choice.
Bath Festival of Motoring
If your dad is a bit of a petrol head, then a day out at the Bath Festival of Motoring is the pick of our Father’s Day day out ideas. From the 20th – 21st June, he can enjoy a walk around their display of vintage and classic cars, motorbikes and supercars, even getting the opportunity to have a ride in a Porsche, Ferrari or Mercedes. If he likes his vehicles a little smaller in scale, there is also a model aircraft flying display as well as various other entertainment on site including live bands and games to enjoy, something for everyone.
Regency recommendation: Bath is well renowned for gin – Bath gin is developed with local ingredients and being in the south west, is also the home of a fine collection of fruit based gins, on sale in numerous bars throughout the city. If your dad is partial to a G&T, our Trafalgar Hamper with Gin & Tonic could be the perfect accompaniment to this day out.
Knights School – Bolsover Castle, Derbyshire
Turn dad into a real knight in shining armour with a visit to Knights School at Bolsover Castle. Within the authentic setting of the Castle grounds, dad and the kids can be taught the art of battlefield prowess. The tour guides are in authentic medieval attire and will welcome you to hear tales of chivalry and the history of battle. One of the most fun and educational things to do on Father’s Day.
Regency recommendation: Since the 1920’s, Derbyshire is one of only three counties in the UK which is officially allowed to produce Stilton cheese (along with Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire).
