Could fruit baskets help boost kids' nutrition?
Published on 24/01/2012

Fruit baskets may be one way in which mothers can help encourage their children to enjoy foods that are good for them.

Mother and qualified nutritionist Amanda Ursell explained how it is "incredibly important" youngsters eat healthily so they receive the right balance of nutrients.

"By giving your children a healthy start in life, parents are helping them to form their preferences and helping them to want healthier food," she stated.

It was suggested this can have positive effects in the long-run as kids should avoid becoming overweight, which will put them at a far greater risk of developing diabetes.

Ms Ursell explained how giving youngsters foods that contain too much salt and excessive amounts of sugar will influence their taste buds as they age.

Getting children to sit down at the dinner table for family meals was recommended as one way to help engage kids with what they are eating.
