Rebekah Brooks may have received several baby hampers from friends and family following the news she has become a mother for the first time.
The ex-News International chief executive released a photograph and announcement that she and her husband Charlie Brooks have welcomed a daughter.
It is understood the baby was born yesterday (January 25th) via a surrogate, after the couple struggled for many years to conceive naturally and through IVF.
The statement said: "Our beautiful little miracle, Scarlett Anne Mary Brooks arrived at The Portland at 4:05 GMT weighing 6lbs 1oz."
It is likely the birth is a welcome moment of joy for Brooks, who was arrested in July following claims of phone hacking at the News of the World when she was editor of the paper.
Brooks was previously married to former EastEnders actor Ross Kemp, who played Grant Mitchell in the soap, but the pair had no children.
