Coronation Street actor could be a fan of cheese gift hampers
Published on 15/03/2010

A former Coronation Street actor might be happy to receive a cheese gift hamper as it has been revealed that he has become a maker of the dairy produce.

Sean Wilson, who played Martin Platt in the soap before leaving the show in 2005, established the Saddleworth Cheese Company in 2009, the Darlington and Stockton Times reports.

He will be organising a sampling event at the Lewis and Cooper store in Northallerton later in the month, where visitors can taste his creations - including Muldoons Picnic, How's Yer Father and Mouth Almighty.

The 44-year-old said that the company has been doing very well since it emerged last year, stating: "We have achieved enough to be recognised as serious contenders for more major competition successes in 2010."

Last week, it was disclosed that the annual cheese-rolling event in Gloucestershire has been cancelled this year due to concerns about the health of spectators.
