Those hoping to treat their loved ones to luxury Christmas hampers may find affording them is easier than they expect.
Tips on saving money for festive presents have been offered by first direct, with the bank explaining significant sums could be put aside.
With nine weeks to go until the day itself, it noted cutting out treats could result in an extra £625 being available.
By putting an end to daily lattes at £2.90 each, consumers could save more than £130, while other luxuries such as chocolate and soft drinks can also be avoided by those hoping to build up a festive fund.
"In the run up to Christmas cutting out a few treats really translates to a sizable sum which could be put towards presents and parties," said first direct head of savings Bruno Genovese.
Earlier this week, HSBC research revealed the majority of people in the UK intend to spend the same or more than last year during the 2011 holiday season, which may mean Christmas hampers remain in strong demand.
