Chocolate hamper fans who enjoy nibbling on the snack could be boosting their health, as a study by a team from Harvard has revealed men who consume the provision are more likely to live a year longer than those who abstain. According to an article in the Daily Mail, chocolate - which is often found in luxury Christmas hampers - can also prove beneficial to those who have high stress levels. The news provider cited a study published in the American Chemical Society's Journal of Proteome Research, which revealed chomping 40 grams of dark chocolate every day for two weeks can reduces stress hormones. Furthermore, the Journal of Medicinal Food recently stated the sweet stuff is a rich source of magnesium, which is an essential mineral for brain health. Last week, food writer Emma Lewis urged those who enjoy chocolate not to feel guilty when it passes their lips. She advised people to reduce their calorie intake so the provision does not become a treat and instead it can be enjoyed on a daily basis.
