Individuals who like nothing more than to treat themselves to chocolate hampers may be pleased to hear chocolate has no bearing on the complexion.
Beauty expert Zara Stone Rabinowicz claimed skin health is influenced by several factors, but chocolate is not one of them.
It was noted that acne is caused by "an overproduction of sebum, oil and dead skin cells filling the sebaceous glands".
Ms Rabinowicz explained that problem skin can be down to hormones and should be treated with daily cleansing and gentle exfoliation.
Those suffering from acne were advised to use products such as tea tree oil to "calm and soothe pimples".
According to Ms Rabinowicz, the serum can help to decrease redness, although more serious cases may require antibiotics.
Miguel Toribio-Mateas, a leading nutritionist and advisor to Astral Light & Creamy, recently recommended eating a "rainbow" of different coloured fruit and vegetables in order keep skin healthy.
