Cheese hamper could be next for soap star
Published on 07/06/2010

Cheese hamper fans may be interested to know that ex-Coronation Street star Sean Wilson has embarked on a cheese challenge.

The former soap actor, who became famous for playing Martin Platt in the series, has changed career paths and become an award-winning Lancashire cheese maker.

Speaking to the Burnley Express, Wilson said: "Everybody is quite surprised I make cheese, but it was a natural step … It is my passion and is something I've always wanted to do."

Wilson left the soap in 2005 after 20 years on the show and won a British Cheese Award just a year after he became an artisan cheese maker.

His product, which is handmade, has no added preservatives.

However, he didn't quite deliver his food in the same way as chef Tanys Pullin, who broke a world record with her 500kg crown of cheese, sculptured from a single block in celebration of the Queen's coronation.
