A charity race held at London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury saw attendees enjoy picnic hampers under a projected blue sky at the indoor venue.
The historic terminal was transformed into a race course complete with a paddock, steel band, horses and a Pimms reception, Yourthurrock.com reports.
More than £5,000 was donated by attendees, with the money going to St Luke's Hospice in Basildon.
The Charity Race Night was deemed a success and corporate co-ordinator at the hospice Heather Penny said: "I'd like to thank Port of Tilbury for their considerable support and use of this unique venue."
Attendees placed bets on the first horses to pass the post and several luxury prices were up for grabs.
Among the raffle and auction prizes were two cruises leaving from London on the Marco Polo and a mini-cruise to Amsterdam.
The London Cruise Terminal was opened in 1930 by prime minister Ramsay MacDonald and featured a 350m floating quayside.
