Sports fans from across Carlisle gathered together for a special screening of Olympic events in Bitts Park on Sunday (July 29th).
Crowds arrived armed with picnic hampers, rugs and fold-up chairs so they could enjoy the celebrations in style.
Live action from London's stadium was projected on a huge screen that had been commissioned and erected by Carlisle City Council.
As well as tuning in to the competitions, youngsters were invited to try their hand at a series of sports and activities that had also been organised.
The event was just one of the many taking place during Carlisle's Love Parks week.
Elsie Martlew, the Carlisle councillor responsible for the environment, said: "This year's programme of Carlisle events is even better than last year's.
"It provides even more reasons to sample and enjoy our parks."
The London 2012 Olympics were officially opened on Friday night by the Queen at a special ceremony choreographed by film director Danny Boyle.
