Lighting the candles on a birthday cake presented to one care home resident may have taken along time, as the pensioner was celebrating a landmark birthday.
The Peterborough Telegraph reports how Emily Johnson toasted to her 100th birthday surrounded by friends and three generations of her family.
A party was put on by staff at Bishops Field Court with guests treated to sandwiches and sausage rolls, as well as a sing-a-long.
Ms Johnson was moved to tears when she entered the room and saw how many people had come to celebrate her big day.
She said: "I have been looking forward to my birthday and it's nice that they put on this party for me.
"It's good to see so many people here."
The celebration was the first time in 12 years the retirement home has marked a resident turning 100, with Ms Johnson even receiving recognition from the Queen.
