Can hamper wine bring neighbours together?
Published on 08/02/2011

Saving favourite bottles of hamper booze for wine clubs could be a great way to get to know neighbours.

KPVI News 6 has claimed forging friendships with those living close by is important and having get-togethers to taste fine wine is a great opportunity to do so.

Guests can be invited via a flyer through the letterbox or through a web forum, while it is also a good idea to request attendees bring along friends.

The news source suggested themes can liven up each meeting, offering a micro-regional one as an example.

"[Try] to find the subtle characteristics of terroir for each location," it advised, adding: "Do some research beforehand about the qualities of the soil and climate that might affect the wine."

Writing for the Spectator, Simon Hoggart recently claimed it is just as necessary for white wine to be decanted as it is for red, which may be of note to people planning parties.
