British men forgetting when to buy gift hampers?
Published on 05/10/2011

British men could be forgetting when to buy gift hampers for their nearest and dearest, as a study has revealed 12 per cent of males have no idea when their mum's birthday is.

The survey - undertaken by the company behind the Grant My Wish Smartphone App - also showed a further six per cent were not aware of the date of birth of their wife or girlfriend.

However, anniversaries were the most commonly forgotten special occasion, with 66 per cent of those questioned admitting to not knowing the date their parents got married and 82 per cent having no idea when they first met their partner.

Keji Giwa and Daniel Agoye, co-founders of the app and its parent company Tellallmyfriends.com, said: "Remembering special dates can be tricky for anyone, as we all have so many things going on in life. We are sure that if we conducted the exact same study with women, the results wouldn't be too dissimilar."

Recent research undertaken by Santander revealed while the typical person in a relationship would usually spend £1,103 on Christmas gifts - including hampers - this figure has fallen to £879 in the wake of the worldwide financial meltdown.
