Better eating from fruit baskets 'could improve mood'
Published on 23/09/2011

Eating more healthily, such as consuming items found in fruit baskets, can help to improve mood, particularly in younger people.

This is the finding of a new study by researchers from Deakin University in Australia, which indicated that teenagers are more likely to suffer from depression if they have a poor diet.

According to the investigation into the impact of eating habits on mood, which involved 3,000 Australian adolescents, it may be possible to stop mental health problems in some young people from occurring by ensuring they eat well.

Reporting their findings in the journal PLoS One, Deakon University's Dr Felice Jacka said: "This new evidence suggests that it might be possible to prevent some cases of depression developing in the first place by ensuring that the diets of adolescents are sufficiently nutritious."

In related comments, founder of uandyourskin.co.uk Louise Thomas-Minns recently advised that incorporating antioxidants, such as those found in fruit baskets, into diet can help to ensure skin looks younger for longer.
