Those who enjoy cheese as part of a gift hamper may be interested in an award-winning product from New Zealand.
According to the New Zealand Herald, Mainland Special Reserve Creamy Blue has taken the top prize at an annual event.
Russell Smith, master judge at the Champions of Cheese Award, highlighted the quality of blue cheeses made in the country, suggesting that it is appropriate the honours should go to the best of the variety.
Commenting on the winner, which is made by Fonterra Brands, he said it is "technically a superbly-made cheese with very even bluing throughout", boasting a sweet and nutty flavour.
The news source noted that judging took place in 19 different categories, with over 430 cheeses being entered in the competition.
French chef Raymond Blanc recently stated that English cheeses are among the best in the world, which may encourage those considering the foods for a gift hamper.
