A vintage year for wine hamper lovers?
Published on 06/07/2010

Wine hamper lovers may be pleased to learn wine growers have predicted 2010 will be a great year for producing the beverage.

The dry and warm weather could see a flourishing crop, This Is Leicester reports.

Vineyard owners in Leicester have noted the spells of Mediterranean-like sunshine have created growing conditions to rival those on the continent.

Moreover, it has emerged vines at eglantine Vineyard, Chevelswarde and Welland Valley Vineyard all blossomed around two weeks earlier than normal.

Tony Skuriat, who tends the grounds at Eglantine vineyard, commented: "I think we are certainly set for a better summer than the last three and a vintage year in terms of yields and quality."

He added the current temperature - around 22 C - is perfect for wine-making.

It was recently revealed wine cellars are becoming the latest must-have accessories for the rich and famous, with both Mark Own and Daniel Radcliffe rumoured to own one.
