There are a number of alternatives to Champagne, one expert has noted. In an article for the Telegraph-Journal Rod Phillips said many people tend to stock up on sparkling wines for the holiday season. He explained there are numerous other beverages that can take the place of Champagne, such as Cava. Mr Phillips claimed Cava is good value and is created in the same method as its more expensive counterpart, yet delivers a solid flavour and crisp texture. "A dry sparkling rose would be a good choice for roast turkey and the trimmings and the wine looks very festive on the table," he stated. Prosecco is another option people may want to consider, as the tipple - which can often be found in Xmas hampers - is ideal to sip on its own and it does not have to be consumed with food, Mr Phillips remarked. Elsewhere, according to a recent feature in the Scottish Daily Record, people who drink wine alongside their Christmas dinner will not have to worry about getting indigestion.
